[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px;]Sunlight beat down on Trinity, causing small beads of sweat to well up on the sides of her forehead. They rolled down her face, and she huffed before wiping her face with her gloved hand. How the hell was it so hot this time of year? The red-haired girl had traveled all the way from South Blue to here on a whim.
Having heard about a particularly skilled black smith, she made it her duty to seek him out. Never having been one for swords or any type of weaponry for that matter, this was a new thing to her. But, as a lone pirate, she figured she would need a little more aid than just her fists. It hurt her pride to admit to herself that she herself wasn't enough in this dark and ravenous world, but she wasn't an idiot. Being a female that traveled alone, she was more likely to be attacked. Easy prey, as they said. Tch.
"Hey girl. Hey. Girl."
There were also idiot civilians that mistook her for a common girl. She continued walking, but her fuse was already lit. She was somewhat infamous for her temper. If even the smallest of things annoyed her, she lashed out. But she wasn't in her homeland right now and needed to be on good behavior, otherwise she would draw unwanted attention from the local authorities. And she wasn't particularly fond of marines. But the moment the man behind her set his hand on his shoulder to stop her, she reached over and grabbed it. Twisting it around, she turned to face the large man, thus twisting his wrist even further.
Driving a skilled palm-out punch to his gut, she caused the man to cradle his hand and stomach while staggering backward and grunting. She stared at him coldly before turning around and continuing to walk before any notice was made. Though, from what she heard, the villagers here liked a little excitement in their life. She wasn't planning on giving them what they wanted, however. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width:103px; padding: 0px; ] |

saying that kilauea was hot would be an understatement. moving through the heat of the crowds, layfon drank from his satchel of water hungrily. however, it was worth it. the culture here was fascinating as it was ran purely on it's smithing industry. despite the rough and raggedness, it was so much more interesting than some other islands.
a loud commotion at the front caught his attention, and like a cat, layfon slipped towards the mess. the young man was known for getting himself into trouble - and this was no doubt why.
the girl he saw was quick and fiery. she didn't take things down like other would have as a fist slammed into his stomach. ugh. that looked like it would have hurt. in his peaked interest, the scholar didn't realize that he was probably staring too much. without warning, another man had already placed his hand on his shoulder, sneering at him.
"whatchu lookin' at, boy? can't you tell this is none of your business?"
layfon frown. what was with everyone calling him a boy? he was already nineteen for heaven's sake. "it is if you're going to be so touchy. move your hand before i make you."

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px;]Trinity stopped when she noticed that this wasn't a simple case of one man trying to jump a traveling loner. Stopping dead in her tracks, Trinity shifted her eyes and watched as a few more men stepped forth from the crowd, creating a makeshift circle. Turning around, Trinity's eyes set on Layfon. He was easily discernible because he wasn't dirty and chubby like the rest. Running into a common street gang. How fortunate. But they were all amateurs, and while Trinity was far from good, she was still more capable than a handful of dunces.
"You should probably just book it if you want to keep your face."
Trinity backed up so that she was next to Layfon, mistaking him for a mere townsman. A silent sigh escaped her lips, and she raised an eyebrow at an approaching gang member. How cliche the situation was turning out to be. But rather than break into an epic combination of battle moves, Trinity settled for a simple approach. As a tall, morbidly obese man reached out to grab her, she drove the tip of her foot between his legs and into his groin. He fell down within an instant, cradling his family jewels. There were about three others, and by now she assumed the man beside her would have left and fled for safety. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width:103px; padding: 0px; ] |

side by side the firey woman, layfon felt almost relieved that he had an ally. or at least in the fact that he wasn't alone against the sudden emergence of a group. but then again, he wasn't surprised. criminals theses days ran in gangs after all. power had become something necessary to dominate and numbers were usually the fastest way to obtain it.
unfortunately for the obese man, the red hair beside layfon knew of the ultimate weakness that not even the greatest weapons in world could defend for. within a swift strike, the men that gathered around them 'ooooh-ed' as they understood how frightening such an attack could be.
that had to hurt. a lot.
recovering from the horrific sight first, the young man took initiative and jumped into action. his elbow imitated a knife as it slammed into the neck the gang member behind him, completely stabbing throat into momentary paralysis.
knowing how it felt first hand before, layfon didn't doubt the opponent could barely breath. it wasn't exactly a honourable move, but he wasn't dealing with honourable people anyways. not taking any chances, the wanted man quickly followed up with a straight jab to the nose.
blood spurted out like a broken hose as his enemy stumbled back. ha! that'd teach him to mess with other people. turning back to give the girl a thumbs up, layfon grinned despite the other three men walking up to join the rowdiness. "thanks for the distraction. nice kick by the way."

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px;]Instead of running away, the man chose to stay like a fool. Whatever. It wasn't like she cared about his well being. She had done her part by warning him the first time. If he chose to ignore it, then whatever happened would be all his fault. However, she was a bit surprised to see him lay a couple of acute hits on the gang boys. When he thanked her for the distraction and complimented her kick, she cocked and eyebrow in slight curiosity. Who the hell was this guy? He acted like she had done it for him.
"It wasn't for you." She paused. "...Nice nose break."
As the three other men approached, Trinity glanced up. The height difference was astounding. They were all at least a foot taller than her, which said something considering she was 5'5". Trinity wiped her forehead once more of sweat. The heat of this damn place was incredible. She couldn't wait to get to a pier where the rolling waves would produce some cool winds. For now, she had to worry about these guys. Really, though, it wasn't so much the difficulty she was worried about. They were low-grade chumps, and with this guy fighting alongside her, it would be easy. But it would cause a commotion and draw attention. Ducking down to a crouch, Trinity swept her leg under the legs of the man on the left, causing him to fall back. That was about the time she heard the boisterous calls of men from afar. Jerking her head to the side, Trinity spotted a group of marines in the distance.
"Shit."
For whatever reason, she stood up and moved to grab Layfon by the wrist and run, attempting to pull him along with her. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width:103px; padding: 0px; ] |

layfon wasn't sure if he expected her response or not. he knew it wasn't meant for him, but the fact that she made it clear was point enough of personality. not only was she fiesty, but also highly individualistic he guessed. quickly realizing it wasn't the time to analyzing complete strangers he knew nothing about. "thanks anyways. and i do try. he knows his nose was asking for it," the man quipped with the play on words.
quickly, his momentary companion's action had him realize that they weren't out of the flaming pan of trouble just yet. as the girl took on the thug on the left, layfon moved for the one the right. he weaved through the first oncoming punch and sent back a kick to the knee, sending the oaf wobbling. finally finding a chance to win with the least amount of effort, layfon demonstrated a front kick straight into the staggering enemy - sending him and the other man behind him into the ground.
"there they are!" yells and whistles blew through the crowded street - suddenly silencing the rowdiness into murmurs.
"ugh. marines again. they do they always-" before he could finish his sentence, layfon had been pulled by the arm out of the crime scene. it only took a moment for him to realize that she probably didn't to deal with the marine either.
unfortunately, the street was too long and the once packed crowd were beginning to make way for the naval officers. they needed to get out of site before the seamen got a good look at their faces and attire. spying a smithing shop up front, layfon took initiative to pull her in at the last second with him. if they were lucky, the marines would pass them right by.
finally, he took a deep breathe as he gave the girl a quirked eyebrow and a grin, "don't tell me, you're on the run from the law too?"

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px;]This was bad. Trinity was not going to jail. Marines were corrupt assholes who bent the law's interpretation when it benefited them and strictly enforced every word when it didn't. When it came to pirates, they were more than unfair. The sentencing given to a pirate over a normal criminal was so disproportionate, it made the redhead sick to her stomach. The way they organized themselves and thought they had control over everyone... It was ridiculous. And the way they judged people...
So what if she had a bad record? So what if she stole from some people? And...beat some people up? And set a tavern on fire... An-- So what? It didn't matter. She was a... Nah, she wasn't a good person. But she sure as hell wasn't as evil as the marines portrayed every pirate to be.
Trinity had taken the lead in pulling Layfon with her, darting through the quickly opening crowd. However, after a quick second, she felt a tug and was pulled into a smithing shop. Trinity kept silent and made sure that she stayed hidden behind a wall in the shop, keeping her eyes on the windows. A herd of marines trampled by, still chasing down the street like idiots. She relaxed and shifted her eyes to the blue-haired man as he spoke. She couldn't help it. She let out a brief, light laugh.
"Yeah. Seems marines don't take too kindly to thieves." | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width:103px; padding: 0px; ] |

"marines don't take kindly to anything these days. they're all so uptight and worried about things." layfon shrugged with a chuckle as he took time to fully consider her occupation. honestly, his continued stay on the other side of the law had really changed him to a degree.
there wasn't much that surprised him anymore, and the man had realized there were many people who weren't really doing what they did because they wanted to do. life was unfair, and thus men adapted to meet their needs. "ahhh. a thief, huh? steal anything interesting lately?"
by now, layfon had moved a bit away from the girl to take a look at the weaponry on the wall. the salesman who was originally about to say something, settled down back into the chair. criminals or not, shopkeepers needed customers. for the time being, he wasn't about to chase the pair out it was possible they were going to buy something.
"oh right," the young man turned back to the woman as if a sudden lightbulb had gone off. "i'm layfon. i guess you could say i'm a pirate."

[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true][atrb=style,padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px;]Trinity's natural reaction was to distrust anything the blue-haired man said. What if he was an undercover marine trying to get her to admit her crimes? But after looking him over briefly once more, she knew that couldn't be the case. She let out a "tch" and a small smirk at his marine comment. It was true. Marines didn't just dislike criminals. They disliked anyone who even looked at them wrong. That's what a little bit of power did to people. They were given an inch and wanted to take a mile. It was one of the reasons she really abhorred navy men.
"Not really. Just some weapons that ended up breaking the day after."
There were a lot of shops that sold faulty weapons. They looked appealing and strong, desirable to any swordsman or gunner. And then after purchase, they would prove efficient for the first few test rounds. But after a day or two of wear, they broke or started malfunctioning. And by that time, it wasn't possible to get your money back. There were no refunds. She didn't really have the right to get angry, however. They had been stolen, after all. Glancing around the shop, Trinity took in the wonders of the weapons. They seemed genuine. When Layfon introduced himself as a pirate, the redhead wasn't all that surprised.
