"So... I should be able to just open a tab or something..."
His attention was drawn away from a voice coming from above him as a warning or shout. Looking up he saw a girl come flying down or falling would probably be the better way to see it. He side stepped out of the way to take head to her warning when he probably should have made an attempt to catch her. Caught off guard his natural reaction was to of course dodge, one point to selfishness and chivalry at a negative one.
After a moment had passed with her not so graceful landing on her backside Tomaka reached his hand out offering to help her up.
"Are you ok?!"
A bit better coming off than letting her fall straight onto her ass, the least he could do was check if she had sustained any injuries. Most of the time he assumed people just knew what they were doing or where they were going. Had she fallen off the roof? Was she pushed? Or did she do it out of carelessness for the sheer sport of falling, if it was sporting at least. "Do you need to go to a doctor or something, that looked like a pretty rough landing Miss."

It is, they say, the task of the old to guide and keep the young on a straight path – and, when the time calls for it, strengthen their resolve with some wise words. But why was it his, Nike's, responsibility to make sure the petty officer tasked with gathering supplies gathered the supplies and came back to the ship without haste. “Eugh,” he groaned as he deperated from the ship and headed to Shells Town in his lazy, slouching, drawling gait. Did no one understand that he was still in his twenties, his early twenties!? Always mistaking his facial hair as a sign of maturity in age, the losers, he wasn't old – just rugged! They could never understand.
The town's entrance was just in his sight, he paused something large was coming down, no! Falling down and, to make things worse, it was coming down onto a person – whose features he could not make out but assumed it was the petty officer he had been assigned to help and/or guide. He continued, his posture straightening up and the speed of his gait noticeably faster, albeit no matter how fast he was he couldn't stop the falling object. Its features now more distinct and was recognizably a person's frame, perhaps female. She – it, contorted oddly and in a successful gesture evaded the person.
"How odd," Nike paused to say as his digits gripped the brim of his marine cap and pulled it down over his face slightly. Continuing forward his gait and posture returning to normal -- there was still some time before he would be noticed. . .

" do you need to go to a doctor or something, that looked like a pretty rough landing miss." " i've had worse and had fallen from higher places too, so don't worry so much 'bout little ol' me," she answered, her lis turning up in a grin before her eyes caught a fuming shop merchant, obviously angered about his customer being distracted. " and it seems that i've interrupted your shopping trip," the pirate cook observed, nodding towards the merchant. " i apologize for that, and for almost crushing you."[/style] MADE BY LOVE SOLFEGE OF OTE !

Tomaka rubbed the back of his neck a bit and stretched himself back rolling his eyes forcing out a small laugh. He looked over the girl once realizing that she must have been joking to think she could topple him by falling. Maybe he'd get a small bump on his head but her frame couldn't possibly damage his by a fall. "No offense... actually I'm pretty sure any girl would find this flattering but I don't see any way someone like you could crush me by falling by I appreciate the apology." He crossed his arms and looked around at the different shops giving a sigh still unsure of where to go about and get what he needed. "My trip just started and I really don't have much to go off on. Supplies is a fairly vague term but I think I'm just gonna grab the basics, if they want more I'm sure I'll find my way out here again to go hunting around."He leaned onto a small stack of crates using it to support his height and weight while he spoke. "And you, do you normally spend your days dropping down onto marines?" He gave a short chuckle with that trying to lighten the situation with a bit more humor. He had things to do of course but that isn't to say he couldn't make nice with civilians while he went about his business. "By the way, I'm Tomaka Hinoshi. Petty Officer and pretty new to this whole sea fairing business."

" none taken. its rare these days that someone gives me a compliment like that," isolde said. " ah, grabbing the basics. the best way to go when shopping. just ask if you need help with any type of food supplies. i am a cook and a damn good one if i do say so myself." " and you, do you normally spend your days dropping down onto marines?" "i can safely say that i do not," isolde answered. " that was the first time something like that ever happened. usually i'm much more careful about these types of things." she grinned when he introduced himself. " well, hello there tomaka hinoshi. i'm isolde. and yeah, sea-faring is quite the business to get used to."[/style] MADE BY LOVE SOLFEGE OF OTE !

"A cook?! That's fortunate."
He gave her a quick smile feeling glad that he had run into someone who could give him a heads up on what to look out for on food and maybe spices. "Well, I really don't know if I'm shopping for a big meal but I could definitely use some help on the better things to grab. We're mostly looking for food to last and give us strength, not sure how picky the cook is." Tomaka pulled out a small slip of paper out of his pocket that was a list of basic supplies which included simple canned goods, water, and some meat.
"I'm sure something that is a bit more than the basics would help, I just wouldn't be sure on what to get. If you have some time I would enjoy someone who had a better idea for this stuff."
He clenched the list in his hand and nodded after she spoke her name to him. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm hoping my time at see will be valuable, not sure how long I will be in the Marines but I'll do what I can."

" i have the time," she answered. " i was only planing to stay here for a few hours buuuut, i'll stay longer so that you don't go a buy bad meat or something along those lines. which isn't as far-fetched as it sounds." " yeah. the sea is one wild place. and why aren't you sure how long you'd be in the marines? usually those who join them are all 'i'll be a marine the rest of my life blah blah blah', no offense or anything." isolde couldn't help the small amount of bitterness that crept into her voice at that, but she continued smiling in her usual way. she wouldn't vent about the marines to another marine. no, that would end very, very badly and she would rather like to live through this encounter thank you very much.[/style] MADE BY LOVE SOLFEGE OF OTE !

"No offense taken... I simply mean I dunno how long till they kick me out. I grew up in the mountains so it's taking me a while to adjust to life like this."
Tomaka began leading the way to the heavier market area where the shop owners were bragging about their fresh fruit and meat, best product that he'll ever find. He was almost inclined to believe but he was warned before hand by his ship mates that the shop owners will try anything to sell their product. It was something new to Tomaka, his parents had always been honest with their fruit and vegetables knowing people would appreciate that much more. Here in the more busy world and city it was vastly different than what he was used to.
The first stand Tomaka came to was one for meat finding it a big part of what he should be coming to collect. "So I guess the first thing I need is a lot of meat. I've never had to get meat before that's suppose to last a long time. All my meals were just caught killed and done not bought and saved for later." He rubbed his chin and sighed looking over the different meat that was resting in pounds of ice.
The shop owner gave a smile to Tomaka trying not to pressure him too much seeing that he had someone with him. It was easier to pressure someone with one person there, with two they would be able to bounce ideas off one another leaving the shop owner a bit tied up to do anything.
