[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,100px,true][atrb=style,vertical-align: top; padding: 5px;] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400px,true]etta was a patient person most of the time (she used most of the time lightly), but today was a particularly off kind of day. the ship she had been travelling on to get to micqueot had decided to make a kind of pit stop in kilauea. some nonsense about fixing up a hole and docking for the night. probably so the sailors could get drunk at the bar she saw them headed to, etta thought sourly. she was currently perched on a chair at a round table in a homey little inn, eating her way through her second plate of vanilla cake and strawberry icecream. if she wasn't going to be able to get drunk in micqueot tonight, then she'd just get fat on sweets and sugar. pouting over how much beri the trip had cost her so far, she shovelled another spoonful into her mouth. her pink hair was tied up in a bun on top of her head today; it kept swaying to and fro as she moved about. she was wearing a white, three quarter sleeve top and short denim shorts and a pair of white ballet flats. she looked every part the innocent tourist girl, and nothing of the pirate doctor she was. not to say that she liked to gallavant around and show off her occupation. she much preferred to be a lot more subtle. people tended to like innocent looking females, anyways. especially the inn keeper who was walking over to etta's table now, dropping another two spoonfuls of strawberry icecream on her plate. etta grinned up at the old woman, thanking her. for all the icecream and cake she was going through, however, etta was positively bored. after the initial annoyance over the interruption to her trip, she'd been rather excited to do something fun for the rest of the day. exactly what in this smithing town, she had no idea. maybe something or someone would decide to magically pop up to her rescue. ooc: thread takes place four days before daydreamer. oh and sorry it sucks, bby doll ;u; |

Ke'Tar wasn't a big fan of Kilauea. He was used to living underwater which was rather regulated temperature. There was some hot spots, but overall the heat of the island was a bit overwhelming for the Eel Fishman. Despite that, he couldn't deny the smithing prowress of the people on this island. As a shipwright, it was always important to be up to date when it comes to smithing. While some might think that shipwrightery is all about carpentry, there was also metal components that needed to be considered. As such, he came out to this godforsaken island to brush up on a few things.
For now though, he was staying in a small inn. Even smaller for the seven foot tall fishman. It was quaint and out of the way. The most important part was the out of the way aspect. He sort of stood out in a crowd. Going to any mainstream hotel would attract attention. Attention that the fishman definitely did not want. So, here he was.
Walking into the dining area he yawned widely unintentionally showing off his pearly white fangs. Once the yawn was complete, he glanced around. People were either outright looking at him or trying their best to ignore his presence. The usual stuff. With a light sigh he looked for a chair to sit in. There wasn't many that looked as though they could accommodate the male, so he just stood there awkwardly. It might have just been better for him to go fishing. That would be such a hassle though.
With yet another quiet sigh, the fishman found the old lady who ran the place and asked her for a stool so that he could sit. Once that was settled he would make his way to the nearest table. After a moment the the old lady showed up with his stool and he was able to sit down. 'What can I get you?' the old lady would ask. "Water, and..." he'd say glancing around. He saw a girl with ice cream which sounded absolutely wonderful at the moment. "Vanilla ice cream." he'd finish before focusing back on his table. 'Alright. I'll be right back.' like a good hostess, or an old woman whom had seen quite a lot, the old woman wasn't too intimidated by his appearance and made her way to get what the fishman ordered.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,100px,true][atrb=style,vertical-align: top; padding: 5px;] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400px,true] etta nearly choked on her mouthful of cake and icecream when a new person popped their way into the dining area of the inn. not in disgust or fear, but surprise and a little fascination. she'd never seen a fishman before! and here one was, walking right past her. she quickly swallowed the food in her mouth, wincing as the lump made its way down her throat. it was game time. she fixed up a few strands of her hair, patted down her eyebrows and brushed off any crumbs from her mouth and top. because she obviously had to look pretty enough to go and talk to the giant fishman. but it couldn't hurt, right? grinning, etta was about to offer him the other seat at her table - but he asked for a stool before she got the chance to. pouting, she watched as he sat down. she purposely ignore the reactions of the other customers.
as he ordered, etta looked away and to her own plate of melting icecream, racking her brain to try and think of a way that she could somehow approach him without seeming like a mental case. there really wasn't any normal way of going about it, was there? etta was no innocent when it came to approaching people, but this was a different case entirely. he'd probably be on his guard around so many humans, and etta butting her way over there to talk to him would probably come off as suspicious. or maybe she was being racist, thinking that? he could be entirely comfortable here. biting her lip, she finished off the rest of her icecream and after, picking up her empty glass. standing, she made her way over to the counter and asked the young serving girl for a refill of iced tea.
"thank you," etta murmured, picking up the fresh glass and taking a sip. she could be a wuss and pretend to do something that would give her an excuse to start a conversation... but she wasn't going to stoop that low. nope. she was etta fray, and she would conquer this challenge. picking up her drink she turned around and walked over to the fishman's table.
"this might seem a little abrupt and all but ahh," she smiled sheepishly, "would you mind if i sit here with you?"
ooc: that awkward moment when i don't know how to reply so i end up writing this and it's horrible and terrible and awkward. |
