LIN SHIYAOHUMAN, MALE, 20, JUGON LIN, SOUTH BLUE
OCCUPATION
An officer in the Marines (Formerly a student of martial arts.)
PERSONALITY
- Stoic: Whether it's the pressures of working on board a ship or staring down the business end of a cutlass, Lin takes most things that come his way in stride.
- Over-Confident: Lin is better than you, and he knows it. Even when he's not, he thinks he is. That is a valuable tool, and one of the contributing factors to his natural courage, however it often winds up haunting him at inconvenient moments.
- Claustrophobic: Ironic, for someone who works in a ship, but tight spaces tend to be a bit of a worry point for him. He prefers the open air and plenty of room to swing his arms around. Spaces without a lot of room, or even ones that have too many people in it, make him uncomfortable.
- Jock: Got some free time? Best make good use of it, preferably through the use of intensive exercises. Lin has the obsessive need to be doing something with himself at any given moment. Sitting around, letting his muscles atrophy, is not something he appreciates.
- Warrior-Poet wanna-be: Lin is not a dumb jock. If he was, how could he quote classic literature so well? What's that? You say that line was not in that book at all? You say all he's doing is spouting cliche's with a tone of voice like an old master giving a lecture so he sounds important? Well, what do you know?
- Limited Knowledge Base: If it's not about punching things, or people who know how to punch things, rest assured Lin probably could not contribute to a conversation about it. He is what you might call a "specialist," and suffers from an extreme lack of knowledge about anything outside his field of study.
- Luddite: The old ways are best. There is no room for debate. Technology only weighs one down. Besides, who needs a gun with fists like these?
- Enthusiastic: A double-edged sword, really. On the one hand, Lin's enthusiasm has given him a reputation as a "punch everything in your way, danger be damned" kinda guy. On the other hand, it has also given him a reputation as a "solve all your problems with punching, even at the risk of professional reputation loss" or an "accidentally hurt your allies because they looked like they deserved it" kinda guy.

HISTORY
Ever since he was a child, Lin wanted to be one thing; a kick-butt, street fighting, monster punching, heart and other bodily organ breaking, back-flipping, sea taming ubermensch. He began this unorthodox desire like any self-respecting white belted novice would; traveling around the ocean looking for things to beat up. He trained extensively, his only form of education being a worn out, tongue-in-cheek instructional novel that, despite its title, offered very little in the way of practical advice and was never intended to be taken seriously. Among its proposed training methods was punching brick walls, traveling prohibitively long distances by walking on one's hands, and arm wrestling giant sea monsters.
He spent a brief stint in Alabasta, where he trained under the Kung Fu Jugon. And by "trained," we mean "got his butt handed to on a regular basis by whenever he wandered into their territory." Presumably, it was during this period of masochistic "training" that what little was left of his mind went. Because of this, he has now fully convinced himself that he is a master of the Jugon style of martial arts. He then did what any self-respecting master of a martial art that involved getting beat up would do; join the Marines. The Marines provided many things for him: a ship to tag along with to see the world, food, shelter, and a bevy of strong men and women to compare his skills to. In exchange, he brought what could only be described as a "unique" method to sailing and dealing with pirates. As an officer, he managed to impress his peers with the wide variety of situations that he could resolve through unmitigated use of punching. It was his physical talents, more than his mental aptitude or poise under fire, that got him the job. Other than that, he has been cited, on more than one occasion, as being a muscle-headed idiot.
